LSA are pleased to announce a new recruit! Alex Peake joins us to primarily assist with the walls and ceilings division, back supporting Jamie and Simon with in-house project work for GUSTAFS Panel System, Dalhem Panel and Oranit products. Alex's background is architectural technology and he understands the processes involved in modern construction.
Alex will have an extensive training programme over the next few weeks and months and will be visiting customers, architects, interior designers and main contractors.

Congratulations to Zaha Hadid Architects and the Evelyn Grace Academy for being awarded the RIBA Stirling Prize 2011, the UK's most prestigious architecture prize.
A highly stylized zig-zag of steel and glass, the Evelyn Grace Academy is squeezed onto the tightest of urban sites. The architects received a complex brief: four schools under a single academy umbrella with the
need to express both independence and unity. The architects were strongly encouraged by the client to 'think outside the box'.

This project included the installation of over 660m2 of Gustafs Panels in RAL 9010 with an SX8 perforation to ceilings.

Congratulations to Samuel Stevenson Architects for winning the Restoration/Conservation category of the Wood Awards 2011 for their restoration of Diamond Hall, University of Ulster.
Walnut wall panels, walnut veneered doors, frames and an engineered sprung walnut floor were specified internally to compliment the original retained timber battens. Factory paint finished timber
acoustic panels in various shades of light greys and white were used inside the hall to break up the long uninterrupted wall elevations reflecting the external treatment of the clay tiles and acting as a contrast to the surrounding dark timber.
This project included the installation of 350m2 of Gustafs Panels.

Congratulations to Quad Building Services (Southern) Ltd for winning the judges Silver Award at the AIS Awards 2011 for their fit out of The Oculus, the council chamber of Aylesbury Vale District Council.
The highly technical and challenging project involved the supply and installation of a suspended acoustic ceiling system to the council chamber. The Dalhem Ribba oak timber veneer linear strip ceiling was installed, the curved and sloping ceiling was suspended from a structural Hepsec sub-grid.

This project included the installation of 3,240m of 22mm Dalhem Ribba in Oak.

UPDATE: Liz didn't quite manage to get under thirty minutes but she did knock a whopping four minutes off her personal best, finishing in 31 minutes. She also exceeded her sponsorship target by £64. Go Liz!

Liz is taking part in her second Race for Life and has been training hard. She is hoping to beat last years time of 35 minutes by at least 5 minutes to go under the magical 30 minute mark. Good luck Liz.

Spring bank holiday weekend, Jamie and his bike went for a romantic weekend in the Brecon Beacons. Just Jamie and the bike for three days of alone time! Just kidding Jamie! Jamie took part in a self sufficiency weekend where he and his mountain biking club lived for three days on what they could carry on their backs. I'm pleased to say, Jamie was back at work on Tuesday and didn't appear to be too stiff. Well done.

LSA are delighted to welcome Liz Isaac as our new office administrator. Liz takes over from Jo Brown, who is pursuing a new career path. We wish Jo well and thank her for her efforts these past years.

Congratulations to Souness and Boyne Interiors Ltd for winning the Silver Judges Award for their fit-out of the Royal Yacht Britannia at the Association of Interior Specialists (AIS) Awards 2009.
This is a highly impressive installation in a very high profile environment! This is in addition to their AIS award last year (see JUNE 2008).

This project included the installation of over 200m2 of Gustafs Panels to the ceiling. The panels were Oak Nature SH8 and were installed in facet to provide a gentle curve to the ceiling.

LSA recently completed the installation of Geschwender lockers, cubicles, duct walling, vanity units and benching and Metra turnstiles and disabled gates, door access control and electronic locking throughout the facilities at the new East Midlands International Pool in Corby, Northamptonshire which was opened by Olympic Swimmer Mark Foster on 24th July 2009.

The easyFairs Interior Fit-Out Show 2009 at the ExCeL Centre was a great success. We chose to exhibit Gustafs and Dalhem this year and we think the stand looked amazing. If you have any comments about the stand or something you would like to see next year then please click here to email us.

LSA were proud to take one of our customers, Mark Hillson of MJ Hillson, to visit both the Dalhem and GUSTAFS factories in Sweden.

We were made most welcome by both companies and also enjoyed a night out at a pro hockey game between Farjestad of Karlstad and HV71 of Jonkoping. The local team won 4-2 so Mark has a 1-0 record!

We are pleased to announce the arrival at LSA of Jo-Anne Brown as office administrator. Jo will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the office, keeping our Database Management System in line and assisting all product departments as and when necessary. We would like to welcome her to LSA.

The GUSTAFS Panel System® has done it again, and again! StructureTone Ltd have won the Gold Award for Fit-Out over £1m for their work on Donovan Data Systems offices in the Blue Fin Building in London and Souness & Boyne have won the Silver Award for Fit-Out under £1m for their project at the Glasshouse in Musselburgh at the 2008 Association of Interior Specialists (AIS) Awards.

LSA recently supplied almost 14km of the Dalhem “Ribba” ceiling system in oak for this superb project at Tooley Street on the South Bank for Allford Hall Monaghan Morris Architects. Installed by MJ Hillsons for Laing O’Rourke, this represents LSA’s first project for the Swedish manufacturer Dalhem Panel, for whom we are their sole UK and Ireland distributor.
