LSA supplied over 400m2 of bespoke Gustafs Linear Ribs for the walls and ceilings of the central atrium space at Torfaen Sixth Form College in Cwmbran South Wales.
The £24m purpose-built campus houses a state-of-the-art performance theatre and music and media suites, numerous flexible working, study, and social spaces, modern classrooms including IT and science laboratories, dedicated quiet chill-out rooms and prayer rooms, access to on site student support services, free wifi and an on campus Costa coffee café.
The architects specified Gustafs Linear System for its versatility to be installed to both walls and ceilings for a consistent appearance across the project. The team at Richard Kemble Ceilings Ltd worked with LSA to find the best product solution for the space; to benefit from the modular Base-W and Base-C grid and achieve class A acoustic absorption a 56mm wide rib was commissioned to work with standard 100mm centres and provide impressive 44% open area without compromising the visual ratio of ribs to open area.
