Natural materials play a key role in shaping the experience of this specialist educational facility for Scottish Borders Council. Designed by JM Architects, the interior combines warmth, texture and performance to create an environment that supports learning, wellbeing and inclusion.
Over 1,300m² of Oranit Shiluvit wall and ceiling panels were specified in the 7-502 profile, manufactured from PEFC-certified Yellow Pine and finished with a clear varnish to celebrate the natural beauty of the timber. Installed by Carter Ceilings, the continuous timber lining creates visual consistency throughout the building while contributing to its acoustic comfort and architectural character.
The project demonstrates how high-quality timber finishes can transform specialist education spaces into environments that are both functional and inspiring.
