LSA are pleased to share our recently completed project at Bankside Yards, London. We supplied over 300m2 of Gustafs Linear Ribs in FSC Certified Oak Veneer to the escalators and feature lift lobbies at the 18 storey flexible workspace in central London.
The smart and future-proof workspace by Arbor includes privately leased office space as well as collaborative and community spaces for all residents. Tenants and guests are able to access the building using a mobile app for entry through the speed gates as well as lift access, internal communications, and lighting and climate control.
In addition to the extensive state-of-the-art working spaces, the designers for Bankside Yards applied focus to promoting wellbeing within the facility. By incorporating large windows on every floor they were able to enhance the use of natural light in each space and private open air terraces on alternating floors give access to the outdoors with spectacular views of the city.
Sustainability and green credentials were a priority for PLP when designing Bankside Yards, in addition to careful material sourcing the ongoing building operation is 100% electric and carbon neutral. The building uses smart blinds and triple glazing alongside heat source to optimise heating and cooling energy use.
Product Used
Quality of design and materials plays a huge part in ensuring the longevity of a space. Gustafs ribs were specified alongside elegant white brickwork and clean black fittings for a contemporary and enduring appearance.
Gustafs Ribs in FSC certified natural Oak veneer were used in the statement arched entry ways as well as the lift lobbies and around the dramatic 11m tall reception area. In addition to using sustainable materials and production; Gustafs rib system has industry leading fire resistance and accredited acoustic performance testing as well as a recommended installation lifetime of more than 30 years.
Gustafs Linear Rib system lends itself to curved installations with its versatile rib-by-rib mounting system and options for special curved supporting profiles from within the standard range. With design input from Gustafs and LSA, the installation team from SJE were able to achieve multiple special details outlined by the architects.
A two layer fire door system was required within the smart entry way, this was designed and built with the first door supporting the ribs and acoustic build up and a second hidden fire barrier door behind. The curved ceiling support frame for Bankside Yards was produced at the Gustafs factory in Sweden this allowed for a purpose built service hatch to be incorporated into the archway ceiling.
