What do architecture, passion and the wingbeat of a bird have in common? The answer is an extraordinary vaulted ceiling, a truly eye-catching feature in Otto’s Skybar at the Lindner Congress Hotel in Düsseldorf. The highly individual and very special kind of ceiling solution was supplied by durlum.
Otto’s Skybar is a homage to the deceased architect and founder of Lindner Hotels AG, Otto Lindner. A central theme of this Skybar is the passion the founder felt for flying. A unique concept arose to reflect this fascination. This magnificent vaulted ceiling with its graceful wave form, modelled on the wingbeat of a bird, imbues this space with a delightfully light look and feel. This ceiling solution is a special version, powder-coated in a prestigious shade of gold, blending seamlessly into the overall design concept.
As well as its aesthetic beauty, this vaulted ceiling also performs practical functions. Equipped with cooling meanders, the perforated metal panels with their acoustic fleece lining condition the air in the bar silently, without draughts and hygienically. Which means that time can slip by here peacefully, as it does on a long flight.
